‘MasterChef Junior’ finale preview: Will Alexander or Dara be declared the season 1 winner?
Friday night marks a big one for young chefs around the country, or at least two of the contestants on Fox’s “MasterChef Junior.” By the end of the episode airing on Friday night, we will know whether or not Alexander or Dara is declared the best young home cook in America. This competition has blown by, with one of the major reasons for that being simply that the contestants competing are so young that you can’t really put them through months of hardship.
But from about the third episode on, you could probably see the final two of Alexander and Dara coming. They have been the most consistent cooks of the season, produced the best dishes, and impressed the judges.
We know that from an editing standpoint, the show really wants you to believe that Alexander is coming into this as the favorite. He has won a good chunk of the challenges, and probably came into this the most accomplished out of anyone. He’s just the oldest, and it feels like he probably grew up around food from an early age and is going to eventually perfect it to the point that he has a James Beard Award for it someday. But, so could Dara. She is getting that serious underdog story edit right now, which is why we’re naming her as our actual pick to win. There is more of a story behind that happening than someone like Alexander, though we do think that one part of his own journey that has been somewhat overlooked is the fact that there have been numerous times that contestants have tried deliberately to get rid of him, only for it to not work out in their favor at all. If nothing else, this says to us that the guy can handle adversity pretty darn well and there’s only one dish that we would say that he’s made with some sort of serious disaster potential around it.
