‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 9 video: Check out amazing teaser for ‘rhyme-only’ episode

Get ready -Somewhere on the list of “things that we never expected to see on television,” there had to be an episode of “How I Met Your Mother” that featured all of the characters speaking to one another only in rhyme. This is an idea so bizarre that it is hard to imagine just who thought of it, but whoever did deserves some sort of raise or promotion. This. Looks. Amazing.

The entire episode could have also felt entirely like a stunt, but the writers came up with an interesting way in which to make it work. The story is told from the perspective of Marshall, who is trying to do everything within his power to get baby Marvin to fall asleep as he gets close to arriving in Farhampton for Barney and Robin’s wedding. This includes speaking to everyone only in rhyme. The teaser below gives you an idea of what to expect via some sample scenes, but we expect most of the magic is going to be based around hearing Jason Segel say these line rather than actually having them on a page.

The only question that remains is how in the world the other characters are going to interact with each other if Marshall is not present. Maybe that won’t happen in this episode, and they will not appear until the very end when they start to have their own conversations with one another upon his arrival. Regardless, though, this is the sort of thing that the show really needed. Save for sighs of The Mother, this season has been the target of all sorts of criticism of not having enough going on. This will be a nice little distraction given that there is a story of a very tiny window being told over the course of 24 episodes. You can’t have a particularly jaw-dropping shocker in every one of those. Otherwise, you barely have a show in the first place.

Be sure to share your thoughts on the super-cute teaser below! We also have a preview for Monday night’s episode at this link, and it features something very different in an appearance from Bryan Cranston.
