‘NCIS’ season 11, episode 7 preview: Mark Harmon’s Gibbs and a paternal problem

The latest -When we first saw a preview for Tuesday’s “NCIS” episode that featured the authorities calling up Gibbs with some troubling news about his father, we were quick to just assume the worst from it, thinking that there was some sort of dire medical problem.

However, and as we have found out now, there is really something a little bit different plaguing Jackson Gibbs. As the sneak peek below teases, apparently this man has gotten himself involved in some sort of incident, and is unhappy about it to the point of fighting and complaining. This “incident” (however bad it may be) could potentially lead to there being even more problems in the long-term, at least unless Gibbs finds a way to get to him and calm him down pretty quickly.

Is this episode “Better Angels” going to be completely centered around Mark Harmon’s character? Not entirely, since there are some other things that will be going on, but given that this is the November sweeps, the producers clearly figured out that this was the right time to bring back Gibbs’ dad, and tell a story that was all about their relationship. The timing could not be more perfect, since in a couple of weeks the focus will be more on the introduction of Emily Wickersham’s Bishop, who is now a series regular after filming a few episodes that were apparently well-received by the team. (You will not see her on the show for two more weeks.)

“Better Angels” could be a landmark episode for the show, and we really hope that it is; the last time “NCIS” this season felt like something above average was the episode following Cote de Pablo’s exit, though there have been some flashes of hope and quality TV here and there. The biggest challenge for it now is finding out what to do with all of its characters the rest of the way, especially when it comes to Tony. From what we understand, more on him will be revealed next week.
