‘Masters of Sex’ episode 6 preview: Bill and Libby take a (depressing) trip

For the first time on “Masters of Sex” since the very beginning, we are going to see Dr. Bill Masters actually try to spend some time with his wife. However, by “spend some time with his wife,” we apparently mean that he is going to be on vacation with her, but constantly preoccupied dealing with his work. What will this lead to? Think along the lines of him actually being asked to leave the vacation destination in Florida without her.

The preview video below gives you an idea of what to expect. After losing the couple’s child, Libby decided that it would be a great idea for them to try and get some rest and relaxation somewhere to get away from the tragedy and the stress of the ordeal. Bill, meanwhile, is a perpetually miserable guy in some ways who cannot seem to really function without his work. This is why Libby tells him to go back, since he is far too concerned with what is happening either “next door” or “at the office.”

As for what she is really saying, it seems to be mostly because she feels like she needs a little bit more time to grieve and get over what happened here. These two could have used this opportunity to try to rebuild their relationship and get past some of the problems that have been plaguing them. However, it instead feels now more like a tool that is starting to tear them somewhat apart. In sounding like a broken record here we know how this story ends. It is mostly just a question of when the show wants to go in that direction, and show us everything else that constitutes the next chapter with Bill. Given that there is already a renewal for a second season, they may not feel that great of a need to rush.
