‘Saturday Night Live’ video: Watch Eminem try to tell a joke
With everything that you can say about Eminem, the man still remains one of the most fascinating guys in show business. He’s a reclusive rapper from Detroit who rarely performs or gives interviews, and really just seems to surface in the weeks that surround a new album coming out. While he’s an electric performer, he struggles to open up when it comes to being himself or letting down any walls.
This is what makes the promo for tonight’s “Saturday Night Live” below all the more interesting, as it tries to answer the question as to whether or not Eminem can be funny. In the first video, he does not even try while Nasim Pedrad and host Kerry Washington try to have a little bit of fun. Most of the humor comes in how Eminem’s resting facial expression basically looks like he is ready to tell you off for something.
In the second part of the promo, Eminem does at least say something when Washington mentions how the entire cast is planning to go out for cupcakes afterwards at the request of the rapper … and it made us laugh, therefore proving that even he can be funny in the right context. We always knew that he could draw a reaction with his music, but conversation is a different story.
With all of this being said, Eminem making a surprise appearance during a sketch tonight would be one of the funniest things ever, but we sincerely doubt that it is going to happen. When you consider how even Katy Perry did not even appear in a sketch on the show earlier this season when she was a musical guest, we can’t imagine being a writer trying to pitch this guy on him coming on stage in a silly costume or saying something fun.
This should all in all be one of the more interesting shows of the season, especially since it is coming at a time when most people are celebrating inside after a week or so of Halloween parties. We could certainly use a few laughs.
