ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 3, episode 6 preview: Tony Goldwyn, Kerry Washington’s big week

Take a look -Did Olivia Pope’s mother die thanks to Fitz’s orders? That was the question raised at the end of Thursday night’s “Scandal,” and the ramifications of this are going to echo through virtually everything else that you see the rest of the season. This starts with “Icarus,” which is hopefully going to be a powerful hour of television airing next week that features a conversation we’ll be talking about for some time.

During the promo below, you get a little bit of a sense as to what this confrontation could be like, as Olivia enters Fitz’s office in a rage, and also desperate to get some answers. But will she have some in the end? While Huck may have figured out quite a bit on Operation Remington, questions still remain about how much Fitz knew, and whether or not he was fully aware of the lives that he was hurting. If he really did know the people he was killing, what do you want to bet that this is one relationship that is broken forever?

Take a look at the synopsis below for a few more details:

“Olivia must make a very important decision that will affect all of her relationships in the White House, and Harrison’s allegiance to the Gladiators is tested. Meanwhile, the team continues to prep Josie Marcus while Cyrus and Mellie plot against her.”

While Josie’s story is an interesting one, the “important decision” mentioned earlier is probably related to whether or not she is going to take the position at the White House as offered to her by Mellie right before the start of the White House Correspondents Dinner. We don’t have any reason to believe that she would ruin it, but the issue could instead be just about whether or not she wants to go through this again. While Olivia clearly is someone who likes a little bit of trouble, doesn’t she at some point have a trigger that tells her to go away from it?

What we can at least say for now is that if Kerry Washington and Tony Goldwyn give performances in the entire episode like they do in the promo, we are bound to be very pleased.
