‘Arrow’ season 2, episode 5 preview: ‘League of Assassins,’ and more on the Black Canary

More scoop -What makes the Canary? Next week’s ‘Arrow” season 2 episode is going to be an opportunity to find out a little more news on that very thing. “League of Assassins” should not only be a revealing episode, but one that has some roots deeply tied into the DC Universe. As a longtime fan of all things hero-related, this is a reason to celebrate.

Based on the synopsis below, there are also some other reasons courtesy of a story that have us so much more excited about the Moira Queen case. Just when you think that things were starting to become cut-and-dry here, then you have the arrival of another character in Laurel to come in and really stir things up:

“While Oliver (Stephen Amell) tends to the Canary’s (Caity Lotz) wounds, he tries to get her to talk about where she came from but she refuses. However, after Oliver and the Canary are attacked at the Queen mansion by a trained killer from the League of Assassins, she confesses to how she’s connected with the nefarious group. Meanwhile with Moira (Susanna Thompson) facing multiple counts of murder and conspiracy for her part in the destruction of The Glades, the Assistant District Attorney (guest star Dylan Bruce) offers her a choice — plead guilty now and avoid the death penalty or take your chances in court. Thea (Willa Holland) begs her mother to fight for her life but Moira seems resolute about taking the offer. Meanwhile, Oliver is furious with Laurel (Katie Cassidy) for joining the prosecution’s team on his mother’s case.”

So Moira has a choice, and Oliver has one of his own: Whether to accept the Canary and the idea of another hero in Starling City, or to find a way to get her shipped elsewhere. Given that we’re still assuming that Laurel will eventually be the one to wear the famous mask, there has to be some sort of movement here eventually when it comes to the character … though we have a ways to go before getting to that point.
