‘Saturday Night Live’ preview: Kerry Washington, Taran Killam, and assorted silliness

Is Kerry Washington going to be front and center for a “Scandal”-ous edition of “Saturday Night Live” this weekend? If nothing else, we at least know that she is going to be presiding over what will hopefully be a fun hour and a half that reminds you that there is way more that she can do beyond just playing the ever-so-dramatic Olivia Pope on ABC’s hit drama “Scandal.”

In the video below, you can get a little bit of an idea into just some of what we are talking about here, as Kerry breaks Taran Killam’s heart, watches him fight with the Closed Captioning guy, and downs a ton of milk after eating what was a very spicy pepper. We give Taran a good bit of credit here, as he goes for it in this promo more than possibly any other cast member has in one of these promos. He may be the only person in “SNL” promo history to proclaim that milk was a bad choice and actually mean it.

For Kerry, this gig comes at a pretty interesting time. She’s already extremely busy with her job on “Scandal,” and there are also some reports floating around out there that she is expecting her first child. There has been no official comment made about that at this time, but if there is we’ll have a little bit more of a detailed article about what this could mean for “Scandal” a little later on this year.

There is no word yet on who will host the show following Kerry this week, which may mean that they are holding off on the announcement until “SNL” airs this weekend. Look for the reveal to come right before the second commercial break, though it is also possible that we could hear about it before then. (These sorts of things are very hard to keep secret for a long span of time.)
