‘Glee’ season 5: Chris Colfer ‘okay’ with show concluding after season 6

Kurt -

While it may not always be easy to say goodbye, sometimes it may be necessary to do so in order to move forward. This is at least the philosophy that we seem to be getting from Chris Colfer now about “Glee” coming to a close after six seasons, and it makes sense. The show has already been a sensation the world over, received millions of viewers, and also broke records just when it comes to appearances on the Billboard Hot 100. There is really no reason to worry about it not getting to tell the story that it wanted. If nothing else, we could argue that the show has already been on longer than most would have expected it to be.

So what does Colfer specifically have to say about dropping the curtain? The actor was on “The Queen Latifah Show” this week, and when asked the question he gave a pretty expected answer that he doesn’t quite feel like there needs to be years more of it in order for its purpose to somehow be met:

“I think we’re good. We’ve known for a while that [season 6] would probably be the final season … But the show has done so much for so many people; I think it’s okay to conclude.”

For Chris in particular, he’s not going to be worried about not having any work coming in at the end of the show when he’s creating so much of it for himself. He’s still got two more books coming up in his “The Land of Stories” series, in addition to him still working as a screenwriter on some other projects. He’s already got his first film out there in “Struck By Lightning,” and he has been working on another one for some time that is a little bit more shrouded in mystery. We personally don’t quite see how he has the time to do any most of this when you remember that filming is a full-time job, and so is being an author. Trying to find a way to form a personal life and do as much work as Colfer does is beyond baffling and incredibly impressive.
