‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 9, episode 7 video: Jason Segel’s Marshall calls in a favor

Have you been wondering why the title for Monday’s “How I Met Your Mother” season 9 episode is “No Questions Asked”? If so, we’re about to send an answer in your direction. In the video below, Marshall calls up Barney from the road, and asks him if he will get Lily’s phone, find a message, and delete without asking any questions about it. While Barney doesn’t know the situation, we do: Daphne (Sherri Shepherd) has supposedly sent Lily an incriminating text message regarding him getting the job offer to be a judge and him taking it.

So what does this video focus on from here? Instead of actually showing us if Barney is able to pull it off, we instead see a favor that Barney asked of him in the past under very similar circumstances, though it involved a new pair of pants. In the end, Marshall didn’t even have to ask any questions here before figuring it out, and it was still rather disturbing.

We wonder at this point if we are going to start to get some sort of answer as to whether or not Marshall is actually going to bail on Daphne and find his own way to New York, mostly because he clearly has a reason to do so. Not only is she a tattle-tale on his secrets, but she also basically stands for everything that he hates with the oil companies. While we’ve had a lot of fun with this story, it seems like it may be near its natural end. If she really did rat him out, there is no turning back for this relationship and it can’t just be “Planes, Trains, and Automobiles” 2.0, where they end up being happy at the end of it and Daphne attends the wedding. (Plus, we don’t know how they would get Sherri to even stay that long, given that she has a full-time job already on “The View,” and in another city.)
