‘Basketball Wives’ season 5 finale preview: Tami Roman breaks some Kenya Bell news (video)

Did this season of “Basketball Wives” go by quickly to anyone else besides us? We have to say that when the dust settled, this really may not have been as crazy a season as we have seen at times in the past. Remember, the craziest events (at least from the fun drama perspective and not the sad story that was Evelyn Lozada’s personal life at the start of filming) of the season mostly involve Tasha Marbury complaining that nobody treated her birthday as special, and then Suzie Ketcham knocking off Tasha’s hat in an extremely obnoxious fight in a hotel-room hallway.

But, all of the drama could amp up during Monday night’s season finale courtesy of two simple words: Kenya Bell. The lightning rod, ladies an gentlemen, is back and not only that, but she has a “song” that is probably going to be both extremely awful and also hysterical. Why every woman on a “housewife”type series thinks they have to be a pop star is beyond us.

The first piece of evidence as to why this song is likely garbage-bin material is simple: It’s by a reality star-turned wannabe pop singer. “Tardy for the Party” aside (which was mostly enjoyed ironically), most of these songs are so bad that you can’t even love to hate them. Also, this song is basically just Kenya throwing some thinly-veiled shade on some of the show’s stars in an attempt to be relevant. Of course, “Basketball Wives” producers are going to be all over this a way that a real basketball player would guard a shooter at the three-point line. (Oh, that reminds us: How much actual basketball is even tied to this show anymore?)

We anticipate fights, we anticipate side-eye moments, and we also imagine that Kenya will try to use this as a platform to get on the show next season. Otherwise, what’s really the point of all this effort to go see someone perform who is not even in the cast anymore?
