ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 3 spoilers: Is Mellie causing more trouble for Olivia and Fitz?
If there is one thing that we have come to learn courtesy of watching ABC’s “Scandal” over the past couple of seasons, it is that just when you think that the world is starting to stabilize, somehow everything explodes again and becomes a giant mess.
Is this something that we are going to see soon on the series? It is looking that way after taking a peek at an upcoming episode title: “Everything’s Coming Up Mellie.” This, according to SpoilerTV, will be the name of the installment of the seventh episode of the season. This, at least to us, clearly suggests that Bellamy Young’s character could actually have a rare win for a change, which has to be something that she is really not prepared for at this point. After all, just look at how many plans of hers have completely fallen apart over the years. Basically, she has had so many things go awry that it is possible to mistake her for one of those villains in a 1960s cartoon that comes up with some sort of great scheme to win once and for all, only to later fall on their face in front of everyone many times over.
Mellie definitely has the motivation now to execute a plan that will work. She knows the amount of dirt she has on her husband is pretty immense, and she may be starting to realize now that the biggest problem with most of her plans is simply that she makes them much more complicated than they need to be.
As a bonus, the sixth episode of the season airing prior to this is entitled “Icarus,” an obvious reference to the story of the famed figure who flew too close to the sun. The moral of that story is that blind ambition is a dangerous thing, and we know that Olivia Pope has ambition that goes for days, but is she going to be smart enough to know when to follow it and when not to? We’re going to find out.
