ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 6, episode 5 preview: Joshua Gomez pleads to Stana Katic, Nathan Fillion
To us, “Castle” is at its best when there is a case to be solved that involves our leading man being somewhat silly, and he is going to have that through and through during next week’s episode “Time Will Tell.” What else would you expect from a man claiming to be from the future (Joshua Gomez) than for Nathan Fillion’s character to proclaim that it was one of the best cases of all time?
The best way to watch the sneak peek below is as a compliment to the first one that we shared, since the two really compliment each other perfectly and show the full range of the character Gomez is playing. While he claims to not know every reason behind some of his crazy actions, he thinks that if he does not do what he is attempting to in the video, people are going to die. Of course, he also does not think that he is guilty of any crime, even if Beckett (Stana Katic) and Esposito (Jon Huertas) have him in handcuffs.
If this show follows what is the traditional “Castle” mold, then the first thing that we should probably expect to see is a revelation that the “time traveler” that is Gomez’s character is not exactly a killer. More likely it is that he is a guy who is either being forced to be insane for some reason, or is being used as a fall guy for someone else who is a real killer. There’s not a person out there who wants to see the case have that predictable of a conclusion. The only thing that we hope is that the show allows Castle to be his crazy self, and come up with conspiracy theories about the future, why Gomez’s character has become so convinced of this little scheme, and if he can get Beckett to play along with it to a certain degree. (Good luck with that, since she always tends to take this sort of thing pretty seriously.)
