After believing a variety of crazy schemes on “Chuck,” and also at one point having a computer in his head that gave him a variety of special powers during season 5 (if you haven’t watched it by now, it’s not our fault), is it really that hard to believe that Joshua Gomez could play a time-traveler on an episode of “Castle”? We don’t think so. Gomez will be appearing in “Time Will Tell” Monday night as a possible murder suspect, and with the major twist of course being that he is completely out of his mind.
In the video below, you can see Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Beckett (Stana Katic) first get the opportunity to watch him from afar, and they don’t take too much time before making the assessment that he is beyond insane. Not only does he think that he is here to save events from happening in the future, but he also returns to a crime scene after being there in the first place.
Let’s start here with the obvious: Despite whatever this character may believe (and what Castle may in turn be inclined to believe), we’re not really looking at a time traveler here. There is obviously some sort of reason why he believes what he does; maybe he is legitimately insane, or maybe he has been brainwashed, hypnotized, or something else that is basically walking a fine line between believability and utter insanity. Maybe he is using his insanity to try and mask the fact that he is the real killer. While there may be some comedy here and there, this is a great chance for Gomez to show what he can do with some more dramatic material, as most of the time Morgan was the comic relief on “Chuck.”
This episode will come to you on Monday night, and it marks the first case for Beckett back at the NYPD after being fired from her job in DC, and then reinstated thanks to cashing in on a big favor with someone in power.
