‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 5, episode 4 preview: Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, and an allure
Are Elena and Stefan really going to be able to stay away from each other? Based on what we saw tonight on “The Vampire Diaries,” this is going to be the question at the center of “For Whom the Bell Tolls.” One of the biggest themes around this is destiny: Is there any way for “Stelena” to avoid what has been ordained? If they are meant to be a couple, it will happen, but we don’t quite think it is ever going to be as easy as something like “destiny” forcing them together. Damon will make sure of that, since he is not so much a fan of fate as he is of making your own luck and choices.
But if there is one reason to be worried about the aspirations of “Delena” staying together, it is the sight in the preview video below of Stefan (now devoid of a memory) and Elena getting close to a kiss. This would be almost screaming-loud frustrating if it were to actually happen on the show. We have already seen so much of the back-and-forth, can’t Elena just stay with one guy for a while now? Unfortunately, the full synopsis does not really enlighten us much on what is going on here, though it does tease something more for Matt after he started to suffer some Alaric-like blackouts during tonight’s installment:
“While Mystic Falls observes its traditional Remembrance Day to honor the dead, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) try to help Stefan (Paul Wesley) through a confusing time, a task that ends up taking Elena on an emotional journey of her own. A worried Matt (Zach Roerig) tries to figure out the reason behind his mysterious blackouts, and Caroline (Candice Accola) makes an effort to get to know Jesse (guest star Kendrick Sampson) better. Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) makes a startling confession that hits Damon hard. Finally, Dr. Maxfield (guest star Rick Cosnett) puts a plan in motion that will change everything.”
Ultimately, it’s fair to say to expect a complicated (and possibly traumatic) evening.
