‘The Walking Dead’ season 4 video: Norman Reedus on ‘how to be a badass’

The latest -With Sunday being the launch of “The Walking Dead” season 4, AMC is being more than kind when it comes to releasing some brand-new videos featuring some of the cast talking about their roles.

For Norman Reedus, the subject is rather simple: How do you be a badass in a zombie apocalypse? That’s right: This video is all about the science of badassdom, if there was such a thing. Some people think that the primary qualification here is just shooting up a ton of people, having huge muscles, or saying a couple of sassy quips here or there. However, it’s really so much more than just that. Being a badass is more of a state of mind. It’s a sort of zen that comes when all of the right powers combine a la “Captain Planet,” and you are then able to go out there and be the hero that gets the crowd pumping.

Even Reedus himself struggles at first to define a single component that qualifies one for badassdom, and he should know better than most courtesy of 1) real life and 2) playing Daryl Dixon on the show. We do like his simple explanation that he does come to below:

“If you believe what you’re fighting for, then it comes out badass.”

In a world like the one created by “The Walking Dead,” belief really is more important than ever. If you don’t feel that, somewhere in your heart of hearts, you are not going to be able to succeed, then you probably are going to fail … and this has to be a pretty easy world to give up in with so many dangerous elements coming in your direction almost all of the time.

Want to be prepared for “The Walking Dead” in a way that makes you badass? Then we’ve got a few resources below for you to check out.

1. Some more teasers via Reedus and Andrew Lincoln.

2. A funny video interview featuring Lauren Cohan.

3. Videos from the web series “The Oath,” which is worth a watch prior to the premiere.

“The Walking Dead” returns to AMC Sunday night at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time.
