‘American Horror Story: Coven’ episode 2 preview: First look at ‘Boy Parts,’ rest of the season
“American Horror Story: Coven” has already shown off some pretty horrendous stuff in just one episode, including a rape scene that we personally feel was gratuitous and not even remotely needed. Why are so many shows choosing this right now as a way to shock people? (We won’t say who else is doing it for the sake of spoilers for the international crowd.) More then that we aren’t exactly sure how killing someone with your privates is a witch power worth watching. Do we really need to see the heroine of the story become a rapist, because that’s what we are facing.
But when you do consider what sort of events transpired in the premiere, this may make one thought enter your mind next: What in the world could these people have in store the rest of the way? The new episode airing next week is entitled “Boy Parts,” and the promo below should give you a sense of the rest of the season. Not only that, but you should get a few more details courtesy of the synopsis below:
“Fiona helps Zoe and Madison deal with a horrible tragedy. Delphine LaLaurie struggles to adjust to modern life. Cordelia faces a dark decision about her family.”
As expected, the show is fulfilling the standard FX tradition of not really giving you much of anything to go on, and you are therefore going to have to use your imagination for a while. Let’s just say that while there are a few moments that may make you laugh, you will probably spend more of your time being squeamish, shocked, uncomfortable, and very well terrified. As we get closer to the Halloween holiday, we only expect this level of fear for many to increase exponentially.

if anyone watches a show titled American Horror Story expecting a fluffy family drama, they should get their meds increased. This show is superb and that first episode was the best I have seen in – well since series 1 (Asylum was great but I preferred #1) The reason it draws such huge audiences? YOU feel scenes are gratuitous, others may appreciate the skill of the filmmaking and understand that this show is for adults. The acting in this season will be off the wall brilliant, Jessica Lange is already the queen witch in every way and Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett … not to mention regulars Denis O’Hare, Frances Conroy, the list goes on.
Add a fascination with witches/Salem and Marie Laveau/voodoun/New Orleans and there you have it. Unbeatable. The only bad thing is waiting a week for the next episode.
