ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 6 spoilers: Stana Katic on new conflict for her, Nathan Fillion to play

Castle and Beckett -After last night’s “Castle” season 6 episode, it’s pretty clear that we are going to be seeing our main characters here in a very different sort of situation than they were leading up to “Need to Know.” Beckett has seemingly been fired from her job, and it of course helps to beg the all-important question as to what’s next. Will she come back to work with the NYPD? That’s the easy assumption to make, but regardless of whether or not she does, know this: Her relationship with Castle is not necessarily going to become all roses and happiness now that they are in the same city.

Speaking to E! News, Stana Katic promises that most of the tension that is coming up now for the two characters is going to revolve more or less around some general conflict that couples tend to go through … especially when your couple consists of a hard-nosed cop and a mystery author who likes to play first-person shooters just as much as he wants to see his significant other in skimpy clothing:

“I think these two characters have strong opinions, and that will create a lot of conflict and opportunity for romance and interest, hopefully. It would be a new kind of like, new version of the show. But they’ve been revolutionizing the show, I think, for the past two or three years, so I think that they did a nice job of kind of shifting it into the romance last year, and now finally into the engagement, and I’m already filming episode seven or right, and it seems like they’re doing a great job of kind of creating that shift.”

The first challenge that the two will face? Trying to handle a hostage negotiation. In the first promo for next week’s “Number One Fan” (which you can see here), the situation revolves around Castle being forced to negotiate between an obsessed fan and the police. While we can’t tell you if Beckett is back on the force, she’s at least going to lend a helping hand.
