‘MasterChef Junior’ preview: Apparently, the kids get lifelines (video)
On tomorrow night’s new episode of “MasterChef Junior,” the remaining kids competing for the title are going to be doing something that almost every “MasterChef” contestant has an opportunity to do at some point if you make it to this stage: A Mystery Box challenge. There are a series of ingredients within, and you need to figure out what you want to do with some of them in the allotted time.
Luckily for some of these kids, there is also a twist thrown in here: There is also a tablet in there, and they will be able to use that in order to Skype with someone at home, whether it be a friend, a family member, or anyone else whose advice they value. One of these kids has a friend who owns a restaurant (smart move), and it seems pretty obvious that all of the kids are looking for some sort of words of encouragement from an adult here.
What does make this phase of the competition particularly interesting for the kids is seeing just what happens next, and also seeing if these kids can handle the challenge that it takes to be creative for a series of different challenges inside of the kitchen. Many of them are not going to be used to this sort of hard work, especially when it comes to doing it with such regularity and doing things that are outside of their comfort zone. We expect a few disasters to happen, but we’re not stretching the truth at all here when we say that some of these kids are already more talented than most people out there are in the culinary world.
