‘Saturday Night Live’ preview: Miley Cyrus, Taran Killam joke about VMAs, tongues, and more

The latest promo for “Saturday Night Live” is here, and this one is revolving solely around a woman who is sure to bring as much controversy to the hosting position as she does to … well, everything else these days: Miley Cyrus. Is the “We Can’t Stop” singer going to bring a little bit of the drama to the show that she did recently to the MTV Video Music Awards? If this is the Miley that we know, you better believe that this is going to happen.

In the clip below, Miley is joined by Taran Killam, who we assume is going to get an opportunity to do many more of these clips than usual now that he is one of the most-important male cast members on the show. He and Miley joke about a number of things, from her VMAs performance to her affinity for sticking out her tongue to even just anything and everything that she has been up to over the past several months. It’s mildly funny in the same way that most of these previews are.

As for whether or not our expectations are high for the show itself, the answer right now is that they have to be. This isn’t some singer trying her luck at being an actress on live TV; she has done work on “Hannah Montana” for years, and was a pretty great host the last time that she was on the show. There’s no reason to expect her to be any different now that she has shorter hair and a habit of doing really weird things in little clothing. Amidst all of the things that may or may not annoy you about Miley, there is a ton of talent there. It’s all going to be dependent on how far she is willing to go here for a laugh.
