‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ season 5, episode 2 preview: Deeks’ struggle featured in sneak peek

Is Deeks going to be able to return to work on “NCIS: Los Angeles”? For Eric Christian Olsen’s character, this is the cliffhanger at the center of both Tuesday night’s new episode of the show, and also the sneak peek video below from CBS.

In it, the revelation is that in the weeks that have followed the torture that Deeks and Sam were front and center for, he has been unable to sleep, focus on work, or really keep up with (or even contact) the vast majority of his friends. Just as one would imagine, this puts Hetty in a heck of a difficult position. She has to figure out whether or not he can return to work at some point, and many feelings have to be cast aside in the process of doing so. From this standpoint, it is obvious that there is a certain level of care that is there; but, she is not the type to be able to sit around and wait for a breakthrough.

Before this episode is over, we can tease that Deeks will be getting some help to try and figure out if this problem is something that can be resolved, and if he can get back out with Kensi again and start solving cases. If not, he could find himself in need of different employment soon, as difficult as that may be for him to hear. (From a viewer perspective, it is just as hard on this end; the guy has one of the best spirits out of anyone in the cast.)
