‘Supernatural’ season 9 spoilers: Mark Sheppard on playing Crowley, past, present, and future

Take a look -Mark A. Sheppard has long been a fan favorite on “Supernatural,” but isn’t it time to see the Crowley character rise to the next level? It is possible that you are going to see that sooner then you thing. He may not appear in every episode, but he will still be a force to reckoned with.

As for what else is going to be interesting about his story this year, we can think of a pair of things straight out of the gate. First of all, Crowley is going to face a significant challenge for his “King of Hell” title courtesy of someone in Abaddon, who feels almost as though she is more deserving of the name than he is given her lineage. Given how powerful she really is, the best way to define this is “a challenge” … and an enormous one. The man is going to seriously have his work cut out for him if he wants to fend her off and keep what he believes to be his.

Also, there is the not-so-little problem known as the ramifications of what happened to Crowley at the end of last season. As Sheppard notes, this is a story that is not going to go away; it will be back, and when it is, it will be much to the chargin of the Crowley character.

Also in the video, you can hear Sheppard talk a little about why the end of last season was so important to him as an actor, and what it was like playing some of those super-emotional scenes with Jared Padalecki.
