‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 7, episode 1 review: Penny and Sheldon miss Leonard
There were some funny times on “The Big Bang Theory” premiere, and also some sad ones. Leonard was mostly MIA save for a scene or two, as he was still on his boat trip. The gang was split into separate groups, as well, for the entire story, which was both entertaining and awkward since this felt like an episode that never really came together. It may have therefore been lucky that it was the first of a two-parter, and the second was a little bit more involved.
Sheldon, Penny, and Leonard – The major thread of this story was simple: Sheldon and Penny are desperately missing their friend, who is really the glue that keeps them together. The twist? It did not quite seem like he missed them nearly as much as they missed him.
This story was mostly funny thanks to the fact that the Penny/Sheldon relationship is mostly built up of the two constantly annoying each other, and yet they care to the extent that they cannot get away from each other.
Amy and Bernadette – They were hit on by guys! Also, while at a science convention, the two got into a fight when Bernadette insinuated that her friend can do better than Sheldon. Not even the fact that they were anonymously hit on could escape them from the throws of conflict … at least at first. After Amy burned Howard, the two started to get along yet again.
Raj and Howard – Raj has the ability to speak with women! However, that doesn’t mean that he is capable of being particularly good at it. The two went to an event at a university mixer to try and get him over Lucy, and he ended up having a nice conversation with Ms. David from HR. We’re going to go ahead and say it: We’d love to see these two together, even more so than Raj and Lucy. She just brings a very different sort of energy to the group than anyone else, whereas Lucy is basically a female version of Raj, except with more anxiety.
