‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ premiere review: The hooded hero emerges, what does it mean?

There is a lot of new programming coming out this fall, but Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been at the top of our list of shows we are crazy excited to see. We are huge geeks here at Cartermatt, so anytime we see material from a comic making it’s way to our TV sets we are giddy with anticipation… throw in the Joss Whedon factor on top of that and we might give ourselves a stroke.

So did the premiere of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. hold up to all of the hype? It totally did. We met the “hooded hero” in this episode, a seemingly ordinary man with super powers that revealed his secret to everyone when he helped a woman out of a burning building. We learn that he is a man who is down on his luck and lost his job, so he agrees to be a test subject which gives him the power of strength, but has been known to cause the subjects to go crazy.

The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D found out about him quickly through an underground group against the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and abduct a woman named Skye to get to the hooded hero.  The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D want to bring him in to subdue him and stop him from using his powers, especially when he starts to go a little crazy with power. When Skye clues them in on how the hooded hero is down on his luck and needs a break, she decides to help The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D to find him. Once they do they are able to subdue him and remove the power making him crazy. The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D are impressed with Skye’s abilities and offer her a job within the organization.

This show is a lot of fun, action packed and clearly cost a heck of a lot of money (we want to live on that gorgeous black plane). The cast works well together and mixes just enough humor in with the intensity of the characters. We can’t wait to see where the story takes us next week.
