‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ season 5 spoilers: Could Kim Raver from the ‘Red’ pilot return?
One of the phenomenal things about the “NCIS” franchise in some ways is really just how far you can extend back the universe in which the show was created. Basically, it was 1995 when “JAG” first came on the air, and this ended up spawning the original “NCIS” on a backdoor pilot. This show led to the birth of “NCIS: Los Angeles,” which in turn attempted to give birth to a show about a traveling team known as “NCIS: Red.” It was clearly an idea that had some promise, and it also had a great lead in “Grey’s Anatomy” alum Kim Raver.
But sadly, this show did not end up seeing the light of day … but it is still possible that Raver could come back in some capacity in the future. Speaking to TVLine, series boss Shane Brennan certainly did not rule out the possibility of seeing more of Raver in the future depending on the story and her availability:
“The interesting thing about the characters in the NCIS world is that they can come back once they’re established. There certainly are folks who were in the Red team who in the future may well pop up in NCIS: Los Angeles.”
Would we be interested in seeing someone from the Red team turn up again on the show? Definitely. Even though the spin-off failed to launch, part of the reason why this franchise works is that it does try so hard to honor some of its history. Bringing her back could at least give us an idea as to what her story could have been had the show moved forward, and it even could be a good way to show what CBS missed out on.
But for now, there is all sorts of other stuff to talk about when it comes to Tuesday’s premiere. Click here if you want to read about all sorts of craziness, including dismemberment, that happens during the first episode.

I suppose NCIS Red could come back every once a while, to drop the hint that it is still around I suppose, although it is more likely tptb will do a NCIS-NCIS LA before then
