‘Sunday Night Football’: Watch Carrie Underwood’s ‘Waiting All Day for Sunday Night’ opener

We'll wait and see -While we may not be a sports site, we are cognizant of one simple thing: “Sunday Night Football” is a ratings machine. It’s the most-popular show on TV these days in the 18-49 demographic, and if you want support from mainstream America, this is really the sort of show that you want to appear on.

Of course, it also helps when you are making an appearance on a football telecast that features two of the most-popular teams in football in the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants. It was in this setting that former “American Idol” champion debuted her new cover of “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night” this weekend, and you can check out the full performance of the song below. If you love Carrie, you’re pretty sure to love this; it’s her signature performance style (a mixture of fun and aggression), but with some cameo appearances to boot from the likes of Peyton Manning and many other NFL stars.

If you are an NFL fan, meanwhile, we don’t imagine that you really care too much about who performs the song so long as the big game comes on afterwards. But NBC made sure that they put a great deal of effort into finding the right singer after Faith Hill decided to step down from the job after spending many years opening the show. While Carrie may have gotten her start on Fox, she really makes sense to be the new vocalist for this song thanks to her country roots, and country music and football often go hand and hand. Plus, Carrie is going to be on the NBC live presentation of “The Sound of Music” a little later this year.
