NBC’s ‘The Voice’: Adam Levine, Blake Shelton ‘reunite’ in awesomely cheesy promo

Reunited and it feels so good? This is what “The Voice” is trying to tell us in a new video, which seems to be simultaneously trying to make us forget that Christina Aguilera and Adam Levine once acted like they were out for each other’s blood a little while ago.

If you look below, you can watch what we personally think is a completely awesome preview for the new season, which features Adam and Blake Shelton as fishing buddies proclaiming that they miss their old pals Christina and Cee Lo Green. They then start to belt out a classic tune, and then Christina shows up straight out of the book of Matthew as she walks on water (with heels, no less). Meanwhile, Cee Lo then surfaces from the water as funky King Triton, surrounding by a bevy of women in a way that feels very Cee Lo.

While we thought that Usher and Shakira did a good job on the show last year, we did admittedly miss some of the camp and the fun that Christina and Cee Lo brought to the show when they were there as mentors. Who knows? Maybe the break has helped them to adjust their mentoring strategy somewhat, which they may need given that neither one of them has actually won the show yet. If nothing else, though, at least they are coming back with a little bit of style and finesse. This show seems to realize that it is all about entertainment first and foremost, and while they still haven’t quite had a Kelly Clarkson-like star, the show is still entertainment gold.
