‘The X Factor’ Israel promo: Watch Bar Rafaeli, Simon Cowell join forces (video)

There are not many opportunities that we have to write about versions of “The X Factor” that are set outside of America or the United Kingdom, but there’s just something about the new trailer for the Israeli version of the show that is both incredibly cheesy and entertaining.

First of all, you know that you have a pretty bizarre singing competition when the host is actually more famous than the judges, but this is precisely what happened here. Supermodel Bar Rafaeli is known the world over, and hosting this version of the show allows her an opportunity to be known for something pretty cool other than appearing in photo shoots and kissing Jesse Heiman during that GoDaddy Super bowl commercial.

The premise of the ad is almost something out of a James Bond movie, except with Bar playing more of the Bond character and Simon Cowell taking on the role of M, waiting for some intel to be passed over to him. There’s a fancy car in here, some sleek production design, and probably everything that this show needed to do in order to set itself apart. The only real concern that we have after watching it is that the ad could be somewhat misleading to viewers in the country, who could watch this and expect to see Simon have some sort of a presence. He’s going to be too busy spending his time in America, though he may tape a package at some point.
