‘True Blood’ season 7 debate: Mapping out the future for Alexander Skarsgard’s Eric
This is the first part of what is going to be an ongoing series about “True Blood” season 7, where we are going to be taking a look at each character, their journey so far, and also where we could see them going into what may be the show’s final season based on discussions with HBO and the producers.
We’re going to start things off today with a character that we were honestly not even sure was going to be a part of the series next year: Eric Northman. Based on Alexander Skarsgard’s rising star status, we admittedly had quite a few fears that we were going to be seeing him leave the show with his character’s supposed “death” at the midway point of the season 6 finale.
This is a man that has clearly been through quite a bit already. He’s lost his own mentor in Godric, his “sister” in Nora, and he almost doesn’t have a direction in life anymore. So can he really turn things around and suddenly get his head on straight? We think that he will, since he has otherwise managed to successfully waste Pam’s time for going through the effort to save him.
At this point, Eric seems to us like a character that could be a martyr at some point, and his major priority would ultimately just be as a vampire father of sorts. We can’t see him really being in love again at this point in his life; he’s more just a lost soul, wandering this earth with a set of fangs and looking for a purpose. He tried to find it in destroying the vampire camp, but he felt just as empty in the end.
The biggest mystery for Eric in season 7? Whether or not he can open himself up enough to be a part of others’ lives again, and in a positive, supportive manner.
What do you think is going to happen with Eric Northman on this coming season, and do you think that he will live to the end of the series? If you want to read some more “True Blood” news and character analysis, just be sure to check out the story over at the link here.

A lot of people are saying Alexander Skarsgard, Anna Paquin, and Stephen Moyer don’t want to do the show anymore and that’s fine because we really don’t know the truth behind anything because nobody has not spoken. The way his character was written with a zest for life, mischievous, deadly, and very loyal to his friends and family, I don’t see him going out like Godric. His character allowed the show not to be boring because you never know what he’d do or say in any given situation. The gossip on the block is he will be back for season 7 with him and Pam having their own story line, it would be nice to see a spin off for the show with the intent of answering the questions you asked. The actor Alexander Skarsgard draws a lot of fans because he is just like us we want our privacy, we like to have fun without scrutiny, and who cares who is keeping us warm at night as long as we are content. The character of Eric Northman drew in fans because the writers that wrote his character always had the audience off balance and he rose to the occasion. He is one of the few actors that I can truly say I wish him luck in all his endeavors.

Eric has strong ties to Pam, Sookie, and Willa. The idea that he would just abandon them is ridiculous. He’s always been written as a survivor who values life above all. But the character development, such as it was, in the finale was so bizarre I have no idea what the writers intend. There was such a lack of logical character development or reasoned plotting I am really at a loss. I have absolutely no faith in the writers at this point.
