‘American Idol’ notes: Scotty McCrery’s album cover, Carrie Underwood’s NFL pals
Scotty’s cover and premiere date – Two years ago, Scotty McCreery decided to release his debut album “Clear As Day” in October, and it ended up becoming a platinum-selling disc which helped to get his career off to a pretty incredible start following “American Idol.” So how do you follow that up? By releasing your sophomore release (save for that Christmas album) at around the same time.
The album’s name is “See You Tonight,” which is the same as that single that is currently working to get some traction on the country charts. The cover itself is pretty country-music, at least in that we’re pretty sure that he is sitting in front of some old beat-up truck wearing a pair of blue jeans. However, at the same time the color scheme is pretty modern, and it serves as further proof that Scotty continues to try and steer clear of at least a few of the all-too-familiar country music cliches.
This album will be in stores on Tuesday, October 15, which is good for two reasons: It gives him some more opportunities to promote, and it also allows for the disc to be a big item this holiday season. In between releases from Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Pearl Jam, and many more, this is going to be a very musical fall when it comes to discs coming out. The only people seemingly missing in action right now are One Direction, Taylor Swift, and Justin Bieber, though the latter two in particular will have new releases next year.
Carrie’s performing partners – In case you have not heard yet, Carrie Underwood is going to be the star of the new “Sunday Night Football” opening on NBC this year, and we’ve now caught wind of just who is going to be featured in the intro with her when it comes to athletes. It’s a pretty popular bunch, at least if you are a football fan: Larry Fitzgerald, Jimmy Graham, Calvin Johnson, Andrew Luck, Eli Manning, Peyton Manning (who has never met a commercial he didn’t like), Clay Matthews, LeSean McCoy, Aaron Rodgers, Terrell Suggs, DeMarcus Ware, J.J. Watt, and Patrick Willis.
The new season of “Sunday Night Football” begins just after Labor Day Weekend, and we (as always) expect the numbers to be huge.
