‘American Idol’ season 13: Dr. Luke negotiations end; is Scooter Braun the only candidate left?

The latest -This season on “American Idol,” the theme may very well be who does not want to be a part of the show more so than who does. In some shape or form, the show has lost out this year on such people as Kanye West, will.i.am, Diddy, and now Dr. Luke … and these are just the names that have come up as of late.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, talks between the producer and Fox have ended, and there are two reasons as to why this has ultimately unfolded in such a way seemingly.

1. Conflicts that come into play from a label standpoint. “American Idol” is tied right now to Universal Music, whereas Dr. Luke is closely connected with Sony. Why would the label really want him to go and nurture talent that they cannot later have?

2. A simple desire by Luke to focus more on his own projects, which include helping to launch the careers of Juicy J and Becky G. He has a busy schedule as is, and he does not want to stretch himself too thin.

So who else out there is really a contender? Scooter Braun was a reported suggestion of Lopez, but he reportedly likes being relatively under-the-radar and has a huge roster of talent beyond Justin Bieber (including Ariana Grande and Psy). We would personally suggest Adam Lambert or Pharrell Williams (who is extremely hot right now and has tons of producing background), but these may already be names that Fox has foolishly crossed off their list of candidates.

If there is someone out there who Fox can work a deal with soon, we’ll let you know.
