‘The Newsroom’ season 2 spoilers: Some names will fall
During the previews for Sunday night’s “The Newsroom” that aired immediately after this past episode, we saw a pretty major teaser that the guillotine was going to fall on “News Night” in a pretty significant manner. There will be firings, and thus, people who will spend the final part of this season either trying to get their jobs back, or having to go out looking for new ones. Neither is a particularly ideal situation for any of these people, but these are the circumstances that the Genoa fiasco has left them in.
According to a new report from TV Guide, there are going to be multiple people who resign from ACN by the end of this upcoming episode, with of course Charlie, Mackenzie, and Will being among the top candidates based on their roles in the story. Will is more of the fall guy, but the others made the move to put this on the air … even though they were slightly misled by a certain doctored tape.
Speaking of which, Mackenzie is going to learn of Jerry Dantana’s “decision” soon enough, and there will be some carnage that almost surely comes his way as a result of that. We already know that he gets fired rather than resigns, thanks simply to the fact that he is involved in a wrongful-termination lawsuit that comes to a head at some point during the final episodes.
What do you think is going to happen on this episode, and do you have any picks as to who is going to end up walking out of the ACN doors? Check out the video preview here if you have not seen it already, and we will be back very soon with some sneak peeks for the episode.

After seeing each episode of season 2 so far, I have a feeling that General Stomtonovitch (sorry if it’s spelt incorrectly) discovered something about Jerry Dantana that prevented him from confirming or denying the use of sarin gas. When Mac and Charlie went to see the General for the first time he was in strong support of the use of chemical weapons for warfare. What could he have possibly found out after having Jerry “investigated” that would have shut him up? I think Jerry has done a lot more dangerous digging than he’s made Mac aware of. After everything they found in support of operation Genoa and the use of sarin, how is it possible that it ended up not being true.
I have a sneaking suspicion that this will all eventually lead back to Reese Lancing. I’m absolutely loving the way Aaron Sorkin has been laying out this show and I’m excited to see this Sunday’s episode. I think if anyone would resign, I believe it would be Charlie. Let’s see!
