‘The Following’ season 2 spoilers: ‘Homeland,’ ‘True Blood’ alum to join the team
“The Following” made some bold moves throughout much of its first season, whether it be killing series regulars to possibly setting the stage for another one to die at the start of season 2. This is very exciting and unpredictable from a TV standpoint, but it does understandably raise a pretty important question at the end of the day: Where does the series go from here?
According to E! News, we can tell you that Valerie Cruz, whose credits include such premium-cable dramas as “Homeland,” “Dexter,” and “True Blood,” has landed a part on the Fox drama this year as Gina Mendez, a cop with the NYPD who will be working alongside Mike Weston (Shawn Ashmore) throughout most of the second season. This means that we may not necessarily have a proven partner now for Kevin Bacon’s Ryan Hardy, but depending on where he is in his life when the show returns early next year, he may not need one.
What remains most intriguing about the future of “The Following” is that there really is a substantial amount of mystery that remains, even with some of the casting news that we’ve heard. For example, we know that Joe Carroll is going to be returning in some form; but what will that form be? Also, will Hardy be able to fall in love again even if Natalie Zea’s Claire is nowhere to be found for much of the season? We know already that there is a possible love interest out there for him, if he is willing to take a gamble on it.
What is your impression on this casting, and is there any one thing that you are hoping for from “The Following” moving into this new season? We want to hear some more of your thoughts below!
