ABC’s ‘Revenge’ season 3 spoilers: How to do away with The Initiative

Revenge -While there are some major mysteries ahead when it comes to “Revenge” season 3 (Ashley’s fate, Emily’s wedding as seen in flash forwards), there is one thing that we can now say with a pretty strong level of confidence: For this upcoming season, you can definitely kiss The Initiative goodbye. This group was a stain on season 2, a confusing entity that was spoken about like an abstract concept. Nobody wants to deal with something that abstract; you want a mystery, but something that is grounded to a certain level.

Speaking in a new interview with TVLine, Sunil Nayar confirms that not only is the Initiative storyline going to be done away with very quickly on this coming season, it will be taken out in an almost hilarious fashion: With barely a mention of it. Specifically, it will be referenced once during the show’s season 3 premiere on September 29:

“Conrad sort of said in the season finale that it never really existed in the first place. So we’re going to embrace that reality and go forward that way.”

Ultimately, it is hard to be anything other than thrilled about this news. This storyline was always a terrible idea, and it never really did anything for the show save for just tie characters up in situations that kept them from the major purpose here: Emily Thorne’s revenge plot against the Grayson family. While we like subplots and new characters, this is the primary reason this show is around. Season 3 will mark a back-to-basics, approach, and will also hopefully bring back some old viewers to the show.
