‘The Originals’ spoilers: Leah Pipes on playing Cami, working with Joseph Morgan
“The Originals” clearly has a trio of characters in Klaus, Rebekah, and Elijah that you know rather well already, but what about some of the others? Where do they fit in to this complicated kaleidoscope that is New Orleans?
One of the more interesting faces that we are going to see on the show this fall is Cami, the psychology student who ends up developing some sort of rapport with Joseph Morgan’s character. We’re not necessarily saying that she is going to be the Elena to his Stefan, but she is at least someone who can provide a different dimension to him. As Leah Pipes explains in the video below straight from The CW, Cami is someone who is constantly interested in trying to find the good in the world; she is artistic, independent, and she reminds us somewhat of what Julia Stiles would have been if she was wandering around in New Orleans.
But can Cami be involved in Klaus’ world, and still also keep her distance from it? That is what we will be interested in seeing. We already feel like she is more adult and complex than some of the characters back in Mystic Falls, and we’d like to see her have a very different sort of feeling about the supernatural world than we’ve seen before as she becomes more and more immersed in the story. We hope that both she and Charles Michael Davis’ Marcel become fan favorites, given that as much as we do like the Originals themselves, this show needs some of its new characters to also be interesting if it has any real hope at surviving longer than just a season.
There are plenty more characters right now being cast (as evidenced by the link here), and we’ll be your source for all things “Originals” prior to the October 3 premiere! Stay tuned.
