‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 5 spoilers: Julie Plec on Nina Dobrev – Candice Accola story

Nina Dobrev and Candice Accola are going from playing high schoolers to college students on “The Vampire Diaries” season 5, and with that you can certainly expect there to be one thing that is readily apparent to them and everyone else around them: Change. It’s an opportunity for a fresh start in a world that is Klaus-free (at least for now), and the question is whether or not they will be able to find a little bit peace.

Remember, this is “The Vampire Diaries” that we are talking about here! You know that things are not exactly going to go very well for Elena and Caroline from pretty much the moment that they arrive at school following a summer off, and this is something that executive producer Julie Plec expanded on in a new interview with MTV:

“They’re really committed to enjoying life and enjoying college and being college freshmen. Of course things will go instantly, terribly wrong, because that’s what always happens, but they remain committed to trying to have a true college experience and it bonds them in a really good way.”

As for what else is going to be coming Elena’s way this season, we already know that her relationship with Ian Somerhalder’s Damon is going to be going well … at least at first. Just like anything else on this show, there is always potential for things to change and shift at the drop of a hat based on the surrounding universe.

Dobrev has already has quite a busy week for herself. The actress was at the Teen Choice Awards last night, where she once again picked up a trophy to go along with Ian Somerhalder, and the show as a whole.
