‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ season 5 spoilers: Post-traumatic stress assistance

More scoop -Based on what we saw from the finale of “NCIS: Los Angeles” last year, some of these characters are not exactly going to be in the best sort of mental state following everything that transpired. After all, how could you expect them to be? Deeks and company went through a traumatic situation, and not even time or the passing of an episode is going to lead to them waking up and suddenly feeling fine.

Therefore, we’re pleased to report (especially through them) that we are going to be seeing the return of Nate Getz, a psychologist who has the capacity to help them deal with the pain in the second episode of the new season. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly on the subject, executive producer Shane Brennan has the following to say on the matter:

“Nate returns because people are having problems with what happened. I know a number of months have passed, but at that point, there are still issues. It’s something that plays out for some time.”

If this season ends up playing out like other past ones (or even some other procedural dramas on CBS), what you can probably expect to see is a handful of episodes early on that deal with trying to move forward past the torturous situation, and then the restoration of business as usual leading up to the next shocking thing that happens.

Deeks in particular is set to have quite a season ahead for him: He’s not only going to be exploring more of his past, but there is also the possibility of someone leaving the team, and there will be consequences that go along with that.

“NCIS: Los Angeles” returns to CBS with all-new episodes starting on Tuesday, September 24 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time.
