‘Game of Thrones’ season 4 spoilers: Kit Harrington on Jon’s upcoming heartache

Within the world of “Game of Thrones,” we so often see so many characters who are stranded from each other for a fairly substantial amount of time. From one standpoint, it’s incredible to see how vast the world is, and how many interesting people are in it. However, at the same time, it keeps people from learning some pretty valuable truths, and us from seeing what their reactions to them would be.

Thankfully, at least some of that is going to change early on in season 4 for Jon Snow, as he comes to realize just how much tragedy has befallen those who were once a major part of his life. Speaking to TVLine, he explains how arriving back at Castle Black will drastically change and inform his world:

“He’s learning of his brothers’ deaths and his stepmother’s death — although they didn’t get on — and he’s learning of the Lord Commander’s death. On top of that, he’s trying to get over the heartbreak of leaving Ygritte, and he’s having to deal with the backlash from him leaving the Night’s Watch.”

Translation? This is going to be a very tough season for Jon, as he has to try to handle all of the sadness in his life right now, and then try and find a way to move forward. You have to remember that this is a guy thought of to be a hero of this series; he can’t just turn into a blob listening to the Westeros version of emo music, even if he does at times already have the hair for it.

Kit Harrington has been speaking out quite a bit this week following his appearance at the Young Hollywood Awards, as he also opened up recently about some of the filming locations that you’re going to be seeing in season 4.

“Game of Thrones” will return in spring 2014.
