‘Grey’s Anatomy’ alum Katherine Heigl angling for TV return

It could happen -While there’s still no word as to whether or not Katherine Heigl would return to “Grey’s Anatomy” now or ever, especially given everything that transpired in the weeks and months prior to her exit, it does look as though the actress is interested now in staging a return to the medium that first turned her into a celebrity in the first place.

According to USA Today, Heigl is pitching a project now to multiple networks, including her former home in ABC, that she would both star in and produce along with writer / producer Alexi Hawley of “Body of Proof” fame. There is no word yet as to what the nature of the show would be, but given Hawley’s own history, some sort of crime procedural is not out of the realm of possibility.

But will any network actually be interested in working with Katherine, or believe that her new project will be a hit? Her professional reputation was mangled following “Grey’s Anatomy,” and her movie career has not exactly been lucrative save for maybe a romantic comedy or two. We don’t want to be completely negative here on Heigl, given that she does have some acting talent, and maybe all of the years in the industry now have taught her a few new things.

This project would be for the 2014-15 season, and if someone wants to bite on it, they could have an opportunity to develop a pilot. ABC seems on the surface like the best fit still, given their tone, but with so many shows on their schedule right now being locked in for a while (assuming that “Agents of SHIELD” and “Once Upon a Time in Wonderland” are hits), it should be interesting to see if there will even be room.

Do you think that a show starring Heigl at this point will do something in the business? If you want to read some more news pertaining to the “Grey’s Anatomy” season 11, we suggest you take a look at the story over here.
