‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ season 5 spoilers: Who’s set to leave the team?

On this season of “NCIS: Los Angeles,” things are going to get real … as in real intense. Not only is there going to be some major revelations made for some characters, guest stars (think along the lines of Deeks’ mom), and moments that will have you stunned, but there’s also going to be a departure … at least from the team. (Don’t start to freak and assume that this means that someone is leaving the show; we haven’t heard anything along these lines just yet.)

Speaking to TV Guide on the subject of the story ahead, executive producer Shane Brennan confirms that this season, we are going to see someone ultimately depart for a time. As for who this departure will end up being, that remains the mystery for now.

The only other tease that we have is that the opening episode “will have the greatest consequence of any story we’ve told.” You can interpret that however you want, including that it could somehow involve a couple of characters’ escape from torture (which we’re all assuming is going to happen). Even the most trained of agents and investigators can be rattled by post-traumatic stress, and if there was ever a reason for the shoe to drop on someone’s career, we are pretty sure that this sort of circumstance would be it.
