ABC’s ‘Revenge’ season 3 spoilers: Emily VanCamp and an Oedipal Victoria?

Usually on “Revenge,” you get enough creepiness courtesy of some of the odd ducks that come in and try to wreck the Graysons, who some how end up being some of the people that we root for. However, there is going to be something a little bit different that unfolds during some of the early episodes of the ABC series’ third season: You may start to actually be weirded out by some members of the family themselves.

If you want more background into what we’re talking about here, Emily VanCamp teases per TVLine that there is going to be a certain sort of strangeness that exists between Victoria Grayson and her son Patrick (Justin Hartley), and the way that it unfolds could in theory have some going back and reading their own copies of “Oedipus Rex”:

“[Over the summer] spent a lot of time together building a relationship, one that almost seems inappropriate when we first see them. She’s just so in love with her son. It’s very bizarre.”

Is the relationship going to be really so creepy that our analogy holds water? Probably not. We in some ways see the closeness that Victoria has with her son as someone who just seems happy to have an opportunity to bond with him. After dealing with the pair of Charlotte and Daniel for so long, who are jaded and torn apart thanks to her kooky world, we’re sure that it must feel nice to get a fresh start with a son you barely know … and also a son that could not be so forgiving when you remember that she gave him up at an early age.
