We heard a little bit from TCA on Sunday that one of the goals for the third season of “Revenge” was to try and simplify things to a certain degree in regards to who everyone is and what their intentions really are. Season 2, in between the Initiative, the new characters, and people coming and going pretty often, became much more muddled than it needed to be. Even something that was once pretty cut-and-dry in Emily Thorne’s love life suddenly became a little bit more more of a headache.
Luckily, this season will appeal to a much more universal audience this time around, at least based on what series start Emily VanCamp dished this week (per TVLine). She explained first of all that she and new showrunner Sunil Nayar have discussed some of what they are hoping to do this season, and simplifying the love triangle is one of the major priorities. They irony here? Despite being engaged to him at the moment, VanCamp claims that Daniel Grayson is not really in the running for Emily Thorne’s heart:
“She’s really using Daniel. It’s unfortunate. There really is not the element of love between Emily and Daniel. It’s part of her plan. Jack and Aiden are her two great loves, for very different reasons. Emily and Aiden understand each other on a totally different level than anyone could ever imagine. And yet the nostalgia and the childhood love and the purity and the wholesomeness of love with Jack is such an appeal to her, too.”
Unfortunately for Jack fans, VanCamp explains that he is going to have a hard time trusting her, let along getting close to her, over the next few weeks thanks to everything that has transpired courtesy of a certain big lie.
If Jack and Aiden are the two primary contenders, who do you want to see Emily end up being with? As always, we want to hear some of your thoughts with a comment below, and you can click here if you want to see some more “Revenge” highlights from TCA.
