‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 5 spoilers: ‘True Blood’s’ Janina Gavankar lands role

Janina Gavankar just cannot stay away from vampires for very long. After scoring a gig earlier this year on “Arrow” following a major arc on “True Blood,” the actress is now heading to a completely different show all about vampires: Season 5 of “The Vampire Diaries.”

According to TVLine, Gavankar has boarded the show to play the role of Tessa, a self-assured woman who comes to Mystic Falls to rekindle some sort of an old flame with someone that she had a major past connection to. Who could that be? We’re betting that it is either Ian Somerhalder or Paul Wesley’s character, given the fact that they are both two of the only remaining characters with a great deal of past behind them now that so many members of the Originals are now off on their own show taking care of business.

But will Gavankar make wakes in Damon’s relationship? If her past is with Damon, that would definitely make things a little more interesting when she appears in episode 3, given that he is now in a real, committed relationship with Elena. That’s part of the interesting thing about dating a vampire who is more than 150 years old: They have history, and have seen many people come and go.

When it comes to Gavankar’s Tessa, we have to guess that she is another person who is a part of the undead army. After all, isn’t everyone starting to be like that who is a part of this show?
