‘The X Factor’ USA / UK notes: Fifth Harmony, Emblem3, and Simon Cowell

The X Factor LogoFifth Harmony on Radio Disney – For a variety of different reasons, a pair of acts from season 2 of “The X Factor” USA are now firmly mired in the mass-promotion world right now. When it comes to Fifth Harmony, the ladies are trying to launch “Miss Movin’ On” into the next big thing, and that includes getting as much press as humanly possible.

So far, this song has succeeded in slowly climbing the pop charts, where it sits at around #44 as of this weekend. The spins are starting to level off, though, so it could need another push of some kind to get it over the top. This interview is pretty fun (and also long), so hopefully it will play a part in boosting the group up. We’re definitely pulling for it. (Video source.)

Emblem3’s big gig – Man, isn’t Simon Cowell’s team now killing it with these gigs? Fifth Harmony had “The Today Show” earlier this summer, and Emblem3 will be on “The View” tomorrow in preparation for their album “Nothing to Lose” coming out this week. For a group that really is on the cusp of the top 20 with “Chloe (You’re the One I Want),” this is a great platform. Also, bonus points if they manage to make Whoopi Goldberg genuinely laugh.

Simon Cowell news – Well, this is hardly much of a surprise, is it? After much tabloid ballyhooing over in the UK, Simon will return for the next season of “The X Factor” … sort of. According to the Daily Mail, the judges will convene on his yacht after Bootcamp in an effort to talk over their decisions. We still think that Simon’s presence on the show is over-hyped as a ratings draw, given that he’s hardly pulling big numbers on the American show.
