ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 3 spoilers: Kerry Washington and a reason to celebrate

You would think that if Kerry Washington was so excited about an upcoming arc on “Scandal,” it would be all about something related to a certain woman in white in Olivia Pope. However, it’s really all about getting the opportunity to see one of her fellow Gladiators in action!

In a chat with TVLine, the series star, Emmy nominee, and overall ambassador for professional fashion proclaimed that she is really more excited for Columbus Short and his character than just about anything else that is coming up in the show’s very first episode back:

“Shonda [Rhimes] has teased that we are going to get more backstory on Harrison, and when I heard that, I was jumping up and down in the hair-and-makeup trailer like, ‘Yeah!’”

We do have to let loose a few victory shouts of our own, given that Harrison is one of the most perpetually-shafted members of Olivia Pope & Associates. He’s a man that never really gets much in the way of screen time, especially in comparison to what he really deserves as a member of the team.

As for what is happening for Olivia Pope, it’s a bit of a mystery to all. Washington did say that it seems a little too “obvious” that Mellie would be the person to leak the news about her affair with Fitz to the press, so there’s something probably meatier going on here. Speaking of meaty stories, there’s also Olivia and her daddy issues that will need to be sorted out on the show.
