‘The Walking Dead’ season 4 spoilers: The Governor as the focus?

David MorrisseyAnyone who loves The Governor knows that not only is the character still alive on “The Walking Dead,” but that David Morrissey is a series regular. If this isn’t proof that the man still has a major role to play (and plenty of chaos to cause), we don’t quite know what is.

Unfortunately, AMC has not exactly been forthcoming when talking about when and where the man is going to show up, and this is even by comparison to the already-secretive nature of everything else that they are doing or showing off. The character was not even featured in the season 4 trailer that was released over the weekend, and this was in spite of it lasting for a few minutes.

Luckily, we now have some much-needed Governor news coming in your direction! According to TVLine, Morrissey’s character will play a part in at least two episodes this season, and a very important one at that. How important? Think along the lines that these will be standalone installments likely all about his journey. It’s possible that we could still see some of Rick and the other survivors at the prison in these installments, but they won’t be the primary focus.

Given where the show is right now in the filming process, we are sure that at least one of these hours will be in the front half of the season, and both of them likely will. These worlds will be colliding soon enough, at least given the notion that this would be an incredibly lame show if the Governor started up Woodbury 2.0 somewhere and never bothered Rick or anyone else again.

This has been a pretty thrilling time for the show: In addition to the trailer just coming out, there have also been a flood of new characters and guest actors announced as of late.
