‘Doctor Who’ season 8: John Hurt, David Tennant featured in 50th anniversary trailer
For “Doctor Who” fans, there really was a major advantage in being at Comic-Con in San Diego on Sunday. Why? You had an advantage to catch the full 50th Anniversary Special trailer before anyone else.
We hope to have the video for you here soon, but it should be noted that Steven Moffat pleaded with fans at the panel to not capture the trailer on their phones or leak the audio of it, which in turn helps to preserve the experience for at least a short amount of time. Therefore, we’ll tell you for now that early impressions are that this was a magnificent trailer that showed off countless major moments, plenty of action, and reasons for “Doctor Who” fans spanning several decades to celebrate.
We hear that there is a great deal of both former Doctor David Tennant and the mysterious “Doctor” played by John Hurt in the video, who has a few tremendous lines that will make fans jump up and down in happiness. There are also some great scenes featuring both Tennant and Matt Smith together, which is enough to make a mind melt with joy.
On the subject of the show’s future beyond this special, Smith claimed that he would love to shoot the Christmas special (his last episode) in America, and it was confirmed that there have been no decisions made yet about who will be the future of the series. Moffat also made it clear that they are really keeping the door open for bringing back all sorts of different characters from the past in the future, and it is really all a matter of finding the right circumstance.
As said, we’ll have an update as soon as there is something more to say when it comes to the 50th anniversary trailer; but for now, just be sure to click here if you want to read more about what Smith thinks is possible for the future of the show.
