‘The Walking Dead’ season 4 spoilers: Andrew Lincoln on Rick, Michonne, and death

The Walking Dead season 3Earlier this weekend, we had the cast and crew of “The Walking Dead” descend upon San Diego Comic-Con, and in the process, we had an opportunity to hear a little bit of what Andrew Lincoln says specifically about the future of Rick. This is certainly a man who has been through quite a bit on this show already, and that is only going to continue to get worse from here on out.

Speaking to TVLine, Lincoln says that they are five and six episodes into the new season, and we are going to see Rick take somewhat of a step back from his leadership position to take a more active role with his children. He realizes that his parenting skills have not always been up to snuff, and he has to do something about it to try and make things a little bit better.

Lincoln also addressed a topic that everyone seems to be perpetually curious about, in whether or not we could feasibly see a hook-up between Rick and Michonne happen at some point in the future:

“It’s been an interesting challenge for the writers with such an iconic figure from the comic book, to integrate into this raw, earthy, grungy sort of characters from the show … That episode last season with Rick and Michonne, and that relationship with Carl, there is a lot of breathing space in that episode … That was also one of the first attempts that Rick [had] to tell a joke.

“Rest assured that that is being mined much more. There’s a deep connection between these two people, but I’m not sure whether or not it’s a recognition that they are very similar types. These are people who find it very difficult to trust other people, and they’re loners … Never say never. There’s always potential.”

Lincoln also added that nobody on the show is unaware of just how high the body count is, and that anyone could go at almost any moment. It’s an emotional experience given the many friendships and the collective experiences that they all share under the hot Atlanta sun.

Is there anything that you are hoping to see from Rick this season? If you want to also read some more general highlights from the show’s Comic-Con panel, you can do so over at the link here.
