‘Person of Interest’ season 3 spoilers: Amy Acker promoted to series regular
For those of you Amy Acker fans out there, here is yet another reason to smile: The actress is now officially a series regular on CBS’ hit “Person of Interest.”
Considering the actress’ role within the world of Joss Whedon, it does seem appropriate in many ways that the announcement of her status be made at the realm of all things geek in Comic-Con, and this certainly goes along with all of her comments and hopes that she would have a substantial role in the show again moving forward. She joins Sarah Shahi as the official new additions to the show this year, which does have a nice new challenge for it in having to move over to Tuesday nights at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time (a spot that, save for maybe “Sons of Anarchy” on FX, it should be able to dominate).
Acker’s promotion also comes as little surprise given the evolution of the show itself, which has slowly become so much more inclusive since the days of just Reese and Finch working alongside the Machine back during the first season. Plus, who doesn’t love a little bit more genre cred? You already have it courtesy of Michael Emerson, and with the dystopia that we oftentimes see in this show’s version of New York City, it is often easier to think of this as science fiction than yet another CBS crime drama, which is something that we have become so used to describing any of the network’s shows these days.
The only sad news here? That it reduces the odds yet again of Acker making another appearance on “Once Upon a Time” anytime soon, which is bad news for Grumpy / Leroy.
