‘Game of Thrones’ season 4: Emilia Clarke responds to Emmy nod in Dothraki

Emilia ClarkeUsually when a star is nominated for an Emmy award, you hear a star choose mostly to just talk about themselves, the cast and crew, and everyone else that was responsible in some way for their success in getting such grand recognition.

However, let’s go ahead and tell you what you hardly ever hear: Someone speaking a made-up foreign language to express their gratitude for the honor. This is what Emilia Clarke did in a new interview with the Los Angeles Times talking about her first-ever nomination as Daenerys Targeryan, and it included the following quote:

“Yer chomoe anhaan. Jin ha Khalaan, shekh ma shieraki anni.”

For all of you in need of a Dothraki translation (you are hardly alone), this basically means “You do honor to me. This is for the Khal – my sun and stars.” Isn’t it nice to see Drogo getting a little bit of posthumous love here for all that he did for the world? We like to think so.

Clarke also said in the interview (jokingly) that the Emmy voters picked her because they were afraid of her dragons, that she is flabbergasted to be in the same category as Dame Maggie Smith, that she would love to play a drugged-up person on “Breaking Bad,” and that she is trying to use some of Daenerys’ confidence now while out on dates. All in all, this may be one of the greatest Emmy interviews that we’ve ever seen following a nomination, and proof that Emilia (who will be at Comic-Con today) was in a very good mood after the news came out.
